The Artisanal Possibilities and the Boundaries of Industrial Technology

Four creators will discuss from their respective creative practices the parts/reasons why artist's books still need to be handmade today and the aspects that cannot be replaced by machines. The conversation will revolve around four topics:

1. The illusion of "automated machines is omnipotent"
2. The process of book-making before the 20th century vs. the process of book-making today
3. The changing importance of technology in contemporary creation
4. The relationship between technology and creation
    四位创作者将从各自的创作实践中出发，探讨艺术家书至今仍必须手作的部分/原因，以及无法被机器替代的部分。并围绕4个话题展开一次对谈：
    1. “自动化机器无所不能” 的幻象
    2. 20世纪以前制书的流程——当代制书的流程
    3. 技术在当代创作中重要性的变化
    4. 技术和创作之间的联系
