中间的脱壳 Interstice of Shedding
In the Thirty-Six Stratagems, the strategy of "Slough Off the Cicada's Golden Shell" describes a state where wisdom and truth transform and transition. It depicts a scenario akin to a slow-motion breakdown of a conflict that quickly dissipates, serving as an archetype of war. In our present world, characterized by incomplete modernity, political and social turmoil, and the interrogation by postmodern philosophy, the distinctions between everyday life and politics become blurred. The dialectical relationships between the individual and the collective, and between the private and public spheres, grow more complex. In such a context, how should we position ourselves? Perhaps by returning to the everyday, to a middle ground between the public and private spheres, and confronting our surroundings with the posture of "shedding the shell," we may gain a clearer perspective. The four artists in this exhibition each use their unique creative methods to detach from the everyday and re-enter it, transforming what seems ordinary into a meaningful examination and dialogue, prompting us to reconsider the role of the individual in society and the energy they embody. "Interstice of Shedding" aims to honestly present discoveries about the "in-between," where we all stand, observing others' perspectives in life. This is also about facing the life we continue to lead, stepping into an ongoing cycle of disengaging and being bound.
“存其形，完其势；友不疑，敌不动。巽而止蛊。”在兵法三十六计之中，金蝉脱壳描述了一种智慧与真理转换、脱变的状态。在战争的原型上，为我们描述了一个类似于迅速消逝之冲突的慢镜头分解场景。而在我们眼前的这个世界，未完成的现代性、政治社会的纷扰以及后现代哲学的拷问。日常生活与政治的界限变得模糊，个体与集体、私人与公共领域之间的辩证关系更加复杂。在这样的背景下，我们该以何种方法找寻自己的位置？或许回归日常，回到公共领域与私人领域的中间地带，并以“脱壳”之姿态面对周遭，便会拥有一个更加清晰的视角。本次展览的四位艺术家分别用各自的创作方法从日常中脱身，并又重新切入回日常，把看似习以为常的种种转化为充满意义的审视和对话，让我们重新考量个体在社会中的角色以及所蕴含的能量。《中间的脱壳》希望坦诚地呈现有关“中间”的发现，我们共同在这里，观看他人在生活中的视角。这也是面对我们正在继续的生活，并迈入一场不断脱身/束缚的循环中。
